Remember Exo 13:8 "Tell your child on that day: 'This is because of what GOD did for me when I came out of Egypt.' Exo 13:9 "The day of observance will be like a sign on your hand, a memorial between your eyes, and the teaching of GOD in your mouth. It was with a powerful hand that GOD brought you out of Egypt. (The Message) It is such an awesome thing to observe the slow coming of light on the eastern horizon. To be awake in the dark anticipating its coming and to be gratified by its glorious pushing back of the darkness can greatly inspire hope for a bright day that is to come. This experience is increased in its impact if the night prior to its coming was a particularly restless one full of difficulties and hardships. If, with the dawn's arrival, there is also a freedom from the stronghold of the night, it represents more than just a beautiful sight to behold, it becomes a demonstration of powerful deliverance from that night's oppression. Though there may have been numerous things to endure through the night, they may be completely overcome and dispelled by the power of the morning light. And, as the day comes in force with its brightness, there may be a remembrance of the night's experience, but as long as the memory of dawn's invading power over that night remains the focus, the bright day may be fully enjoyed with little or no remaining clouds of the darkness. If, however, there is a continual drawing up memories of the night's difficulties, the power of dawn's light is made insignificant and the night's trials are empowered and lived once again even in the potential brightness of the day. To live at all is to live through a night, but there is a day that the Lord has made and the Sun of righteousness has risen for us with healing in His wings. No matter the difficulty of the night we may experience, there is a bright dawn and day made for us in the powerful coming of our Savior to the horizon of our hearts. The power of the nights trials is completely removed and it will hold no place of dominance unless it is given place by becoming our chosen memory. We are not given a mind and the ability to remember and then expected to just forget anything negative from our past. We do have the choice, however, whether or not to drag those memories into our day by allowing them to be greater than the memory of our Dawn's coming. As long as the Israelites kept their focus on the bondage they experienced in Egypt they could never escape its power, even though their light came and they were freed. This is why it was so important to purposefully focus on the powerful hand of God that had delivered them and allow its memory to be upon their minds and in their mouths. Living in the light of this glorious day we've been brought into, may there be no giving place to and sheltering of the strongholds of the night through harboring their memories. While this may not be possible in the strength of our will alone, there is complete assurance of our success if the memory of our deliverance and powerful demonstration of God's hand is given prominence in our minds and mouths. The sweetness of the day's experience will be ever enhanced as the memory of the night's trials is completely dominated by magnifying and praising the power of Dawn's light. 2/21/04
