Placement Jam 1:18 He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures. 2Co 5:17 Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! As life begins in each plant and animal, everything is given a fresh start and there is a presentation of something that is full of potential and hope. Each new budding life is a treasure that, in the right setting, will be a great representation of the One who conceived and created it. There is purpose in the existence of each life that will only be realized as it finds its place in the surroundings for which it was designed. When I was in high school I worked for a while at a local store that sold flowers and designed and installed landscaping. It was amazing to see how many different plants could be taken from the place they were first grown and arranged together with other plants in such a beautiful design. This store didn't just buy all their plants, but planted and grew many of them in a greenhouse at the back of the building. Part of our duties was to place the seeds in little containers of black soil and then keep them watered throughout the day until they sprouted out as the plant they were created to be. I always enjoyed the atmosphere in the greenhouse, as there was the smell of plant life and freshly watered soil. It was rewarding and inspiring to see the fruits of your labor as the plants grew from nothing visible beneath the soil to plants that could be sold for their beauty and function. Even the ones that might not be as beautiful, such as the tomato plants or the cactus were of significant value when placed in the right surrounding. While each little plant could be presented as a thing of value while in the greenhouse, the critical point in determining the extent of its life's importance came not in its greenhouse presentation, but when it was taken from that protected and cared-for environment and placed in a garden, landscaping design or floral arrangement. It could be the most beautiful and admired plant while sitting on a row with other plants, but its placement and care as part of a design would really define its significance. In Christ we have become brand new creatures and are in fact presented, according to James 1:18 as "the crown of all his creatures". From our first presentation as the life of God in Christ, we are full of potential and hope. We are given a purpose and significance in life and are just in need of the right placement and care. To become all for which we were designed, we must be arranged with those that will complement and nourish the value that is ours to show. There must be care given and water and food of the Spirit and Word supplied for there to be sustained life in this place. Whenever there is a question regarding the health and function of this life we're given, it should not go towards the legitimacy of our original presentation. God has not spared any of us in loving design of purpose and function, but we are each one presented as His new creation in Christ. If there is a difficulty in observing our full maturity and potential, its cause will be found in what has taken place beyond the environment of new birth. There is no limit to the value placed in every life that has been presented in Christ. Until this value is given the proper placement and care, however, it may just dry up or be found void of any significance in its surroundings. There is a place for each one of us in kingdom of God. In finding this place and being cared for there we will fulfill the purpose for which we were designed. We will go from the exciting presentation of treasured new life to the representation of this life's purpose. 4/7/04
